Justice for Immigrants–Illinois

On Saturday, February 20, 2010,  SM Katherine Fax,  SM Jeanine Heath, SM Inez Moch, and SM Sheila Nicholson attended a Day on Immigration at St. Benedict the African Parish-East Campus in Chicago, IL.  The workshop was  sponsored by the Sisters and Brothers of Immigrants.  Rev. Daniel Groody, CSC spoke on the Theology of Immigration. Rev. Groody is the author of several books and films dealing with immigration and globalization.  Organizations that minister to immigrants provided materials about their services.  Legislative action regarding immigration was also addressed.

The following day, the Promoters of Justice and Peace of Illinois and Wisconsin facilitated a Day of Reflection for Felician Sisters in Chicago entitled: Renewing Hope: Seeking Justice for Immigrants.  The participants  viewed two videos: Who Are My Brothers and Sisters and Ties That Bind.  The sisters shared their reflections on the videos and on persons who are immigrants to the United States.   The day opened and closed with a prayer incorporating the World Day of Social Justice and reflected this year’s Lenten theme: With Jesus: Cry Justice, Cry Hope!
