Justice & Peace
In the spirit of St. Francis and Blessed Mary Angela, our foundress, we Felician Sisters commit ourselves to promote the Gospel of justice and peace. To respond to the cry of the poor and to bring about the reign of God, we:
| •Proclaim the Good News of Jesus •Defend the Dignity of All Human Life •Promote Right Relationships and •Responsible Stewardship of Creation |
Allow me to introduce myself…I am Sister Maryann Agnes Mueller and I am delighted to be the full-time Justice and Peace Coordinator for Our Lady of Hope Province. I live in Lodi where I have directed our Justice and Peace committee, a very dedicated group of sisters, associates, and employees from institutions on our grounds.
I am also a member of the Felician Sisters’ Congregational Office for Justice and Peace and I edit the Congregational Justice and Peace newsletter which is found on our Congregational website, http://www.feliciansisters.org/justice.
I have been on the New Jersey State Leadership Council of Pax Christi for five years and I edit The Christian Peacemaker, the newsletter for Pax Christi New Jersey.
My baptismal mandate compels me to make an attempt each day to learn how to live the Beatitudes. My favorite quote from Mahatma Gandhi—“You must be the change you want to see in the world” challenges me as well as Blessed Mary Angela’s charism, to fulfill God’s will in compassionate service, total availability and concern for the salvation of all people.
I am happy to be working with Sister Mary Anne Olekszyk, Provincial Councilor and the Justice and Peace Liaison to the Provincial Council. Sister Mary Anne, also a member of the Congregational Justice and Peace Office, has been actively involved in Canadian organizations responding to justice and peace issues for the past thirty-five years.
I welcome you to our Justice and Peace homepage. I invite you to check out the other links to discover important action alerts regarding current legislation and events that you may be interested in joining. You will also find recommendations for books and movies which may interest you, and catch a glimpse at what some of our sisters are doing to bring about the Gospel mandate of peace and justice to our world.
“Jesus impels and strengthens us to live his love in service to others while working for justice and peace in the building of God’s kingdom on earth. “
